Born and raised in New York City, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in American History from Queens College (CUNY) and a Masters in Library and Information Sciences from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Before joining Nortel I had a career in Finance (United Virgina Bank/Commercial Credit Corp) and one as the Business Librarian for UNC. Since leaving Nortel I have been working as an independent consultant. An aspiring writer, I have had a short story published in Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine. I am most proud of my family: my wife, Janis, who has been by my side for 43 years, my two children, Patrick and Colleen, my son-in-law Jeffery Payne, and my grandson, Silas Timothy Dempsey Payne.  I am a humanist whose purpose is to help myself and others learn.  With James Taylor, I believe that the secret to life is enjoying the passage of time. To that end, we have settled into the Low Country of Charleston, South Carolina!
